So Real It Hurts
Folks, great things are starting to happen over at Magicshopping Wonder Space, a forum for serious, subtle photomagicians to share their passion for light.
We’re sick of the rampant digital manipulation littering the internet these days. And while we believe that Photoshop, Aperture, and other tools have their place, those tools should serve to enhance the natural reality of the photographed scene.
Some of our work:
Jason Permenter on the importance of warmth (above, left)
Dave Hayden’s masterful tilt shift tour-de-force (above, right)
My own capture in low—well, absent—light
Neven Mrgan on the importance of size
Merlin Mann’s supremely light touch
Flip McBramble’s intense video tutorials
and more, including some amazing tips in the forum
If you’re serious about making beautiful, natural images, come on over and share your work. If you’re not serious, take your embarrassing 3 year-old PowerShot and get out of here. Maybe, just maybe, your kids won’t hate you for the disgusting overexposed birthday party snapshots you’re destined to take for the rest of your life. Loser.
